Billing, Payments & Insurance

Cash

We believe that our patient financial options are as important as the services we perform here at Silvestri & Comfort Family Dentistry. It is our responsibility to inform you of your charges and our payment options prior to service. We want our patients to be able to comfortably afford quality dental care and that is the reason why we will gladly discuss your options with you before you begin your treatment.

The payment options we offer our patients are:

  • A 5% courtesy discount for payment in full by cash, check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover) at time of service for all services. Senior citizens (65 and older) will receive a 10% courtesy discount for payment in full.
  • For procedures that require multiple appointments (crown and/or bridgework, dentures, etc.) you can make two equal payments. The first payment due on the day of procedure started and the second payment due on the day of insert. The disadvantage with this option is we cannot give a courtesy.
  • We offer Financing, which is a credit card specially designed for dental practices. Once an application is filled out and approved (with no cost or annual fee), you will have ninety days to one-year interest free to pay off your account. The length of the interest free period depends on the amount financed.

Please note that we do not offer long term in-office financing. Any account that goes over ninety days will be subject to a finance charge of 1.84% which will accrue monthly until the account is paid in full. This is not that we do not trust or care about you. We do! In fact, the majority of our patients have excellent payment histories. A few reasons why we do not offer this is that it allows our staff more time for servicing our patients by reducing the amount of time spent on billing and collections, the existence of excellent outside financing that is simple to obtain, and it decreases the amount of overhead expenses so we can focus on what is important… our patients.

Our office manager and financial coordinator perform our billing at the beginning of each month here at our practice and thanks to a recent conversion of our dental software, our billing process has become more efficient to better serve you. The billing statements are easy to read and understand, but if you ever have a question or concern, feel free to call our office and we will be more than happy to clarify or remedy it for you.

Benefits

In regards to dental insurance, keep in mind that your insurance is a contract between your employer and a dental insurance company. Benefits that you receive are based on the terms of the contract negotiated between your employer and the dental insurance company, not your dental office. The goal of most plans is to provide only the basic care for specific services and many needed services may not be covered. Some plans even base the amount of benefits on a fee schedule (known as ‘usual and customary’) set by the insurance companies. What that means is you may receive a lower percentage reimbursement than indicated in your plan. Remember, the benefits you receive from your plan have nothing to do with your dental needs or complete results. This is why we choose not to participate with any specific dental insurance companies, although we will submit to all.

The reason why we choose not to participate with any specific dental insurance companies is because your individual dental health care needs will always be our first and foremost concern. The insurance companies are not willing to consistently pay for the best care for our patients, their customers. If you are fortunate to have a plan that allows you to choose your dentist, then we will work with you to evaluate and maximize your benefits. Our objective is to maximize your insurance benefits and make any remaining balance easily affordable. As a courtesy, our office electronically completes and submits your insurance claims to achieve the maximum reimbursements you are entitled to. The insurance company is responsible to you and not to our office. Please remember that you are ultimately responsible for all expenses incurred here at our office and we will assist you in any way that we can to achieve the ultimate results… a healthy and beautiful smile!
